Register for the Cocoa Ocho 8k
We are happy to announce that registration for the Singletrack Showdown and Coco Ocho are now open. We have a few interesting things in store for this years races. First there will be chip timing and scoring this year, no matter what. Spectrum Health's Win with Wellness Fit Club program has graciously offered up sponsorship to cover the cost of timing and scoring for this years event.
The Spectrum Health's Win with Wellness Fit Club partnership will also allow for Ludington Area Schools’ K through 8th grade students to participate in both events free of charge. We are working on some type of events for kids at the lower grade levels but until we see the weather for that day it’s tough to say what that might look like.
About the weather... Barring a weather event that makes the course, or the roads to the course, too dangerous for competition (or physically impossible) we will run the full distance of the both races this year. We think we could have run the whole course last year after seeing how traffic had packed down the course.
We’re pleased to announce also that we’ve lined up some cool race entries as raffle prizes again. We have a 2015 Barry Roubaix and even a LumberJack 100 entries, an Arcadia Grit and Gravel and a 2015 Mitt Crit entry and we’ll see if we can get a couple more by race day.
To entice people to sign up early there will be a reward system based on when you sign up for the race drawings. If you sign up before midnite Monday, November 17th, racers will receive 5 tickets to place in buckets for each race entry. The Lumberjack 100 isn’t for everyone… From 12:01 am on Nov. 18 until midnite of Thanksgiving, you get three tickets. Friday and Saturday entrants get a single ticket. First and second place winners in the bike race will get gift cards donated by sponsors Sportsmans, The Mitten and Barley & Rye. Participants in the Cocoa Ocho will receive a race shirt. Participants in the Singletrack Showdown receive a custom water bottle and we have the awards for first and second in each age group.
Thanks to Doug M. for the video, he called the race, "stupid fun," we think that's quite appropriate..
